What's with this sexist "masters" stuff?

Us super oldies have an earlier start than the mere 35 and 40 year olds but I hope all of you - women and men - have a good race in the veterans cross country championships and hope to see you sometime during the afternoon.

JIM

Guys currently I am unsure as to whether I will be able to run this now.  My knee was in a bad way after Tue and I have been told to take two weeks off running.  Cry

Therefore its best not to leave the travel plans to me.  I wont make a decision till the morning of the race.

I have now had confirmation of our entry to the masters cross country at Trent Park.  The times of races are as follows :

1pm  Men 50+, 60+    10k

2pm  Women 35+, 45+ and Men 70+  6k

2.45pm  Men 40+, Men 35+  10K

Our list of runners are as follows :

Paul Carter
Steve Smithson
Steve Mayfield
Martin Wood
Andrew Hull

Jim Brown
David Bowker
David Parsons

Ron Cohen
Tony Osborne

Tricia Hopper
Jo Laing
Alison Wood
Marianne Silsby
Helen Miller
Dania Heath
Steph Mayfield

Sue Leigh
Sharon Crowley
Barbara Wilson
Yvonne Jones
Iris Hornsey

Numbers and Changing facilities for both female and male athletes will be in the Sports Hall. The facilities are limited.  NUMBERS : I will leave the numbers with the organisers as we are all starting at different times so when you turn up please collect your number from the Sports Hall.  Make sure you take some safety pins.

Directions : The only entrance to be used to Trent Park is the Snakes Lane Entrance opposite Oakwood Tube Station.  Parking will be signed and directed.

NOTE : Athletes should NOT park in the Southgate Hockey Club parking but should proceed through the barrier at the end of Snakes Lane to the University campus main car park.

Refreshments will be available.  I would advise everyone who has not run cross country before to bring plenty of warm clothes and a change of footwear for after the race.

I have been given a map of the area and it shows where we should park so I will print some off as I have no idea how to put the map on the forum.

As the races start at different times I suggest that the men should probably try and get together and sort out their travel arrangements.  (Steve S - maybe yourself).  The girls - I suggest that we meet at Ridlins Running track at 12 oclock.  We will probably need a few cars to take us though as I can only take so many in mine.  Tony and Ron your race is the same time as ours so maybe you would like to car share too.

Sue
